about the program
Training for Impact
Training for Impact (TFI) is a three-month program for professionals who lead trainings focused on preventing or responding to domestic and sexual violence as part of their role. It’s designed for those who want to strengthen their facilitation and training design skills to create more meaningful learning experiences.
Through hands-on practice, real-world application, and ongoing support from peers and Amplify staff, program participants sharpen their skills, deepen their impact, and build greater resilience—both personally and within their organizations—to help strengthen the movement to end domestic and sexual violence.
In November 2024, Amplify launched its first Training for Impact cohort, welcoming participants from domestic and sexual violence coalitions across U.S. states and territories.
The second cohort will launch in November 2025 and include participants from organizations across U.S. states and territories that support survivors of domestic and sexual violence.
Structure of the Program
Meet In-Person in Vermont

Training for Impact begins with an intensive 30-hour course focused on training design and facilitation strategies that foster learning and engagement.
Cohort members gather at the Vermont Network’s office and complete a Learning-Centered Design Course, facilitated with Global Learning Partners and Amplify Leadership Lab staff.
Apply Learnings to Their Own Work

After the in-person meeting, participants apply the approaches they’ve learned by designing and facilitating a new training in their own work.
Gather
Virtually

Throughout the program, participants receive on-going online support from their cohort peers and Amplify team.
Amplify staff lead additional virtual learning opportunities, giving participants space to reflect on the successes and challenges of applying new training design and facilitation strategies in their work.
Participants can also join virtual office hours to receive individualized support on improving their training design and facilitation plans and integrating these learnings into future projects.

Survey results from the 2024 TFI cohort
Training for Impact 2024 cohort members were surveyed immediately after they completed the program in February of 2025.
Of the 75% of participants who completed the survey:
- 100% reported being more equipped with skills and practices to engage in learning-centered design in support of their work to end violence.
- 100% reported overall satisfaction with TFI and would recommend to others.
In July of 2025, TFI 2024 cohort members were surveyed again about how the program had impacted their work.
Of the 58% of participants who completed the 6-month follow-up survey:
- 100% reported an increase in knowledge about impactful training design and facilitation.
- 100% reported being much more equipped to engage in learning-centered practices as a result of participating in Training for Impact
- 83% reported that they had connected with other practitioners to share resources, successes and challenges and support each other.
- 100% reported that they are likely to (or continue to) implement what they learned from this program.
Quotes from the survey
What TFI 2024 Cohort Members are saying

“Since implementing what I learned in TFI, I’ve seen more positive feedback in evaluations, especially around engagement and overall impact.”
“Having a better understanding of the needs of adult learners, particularly the component of safety, has helped me design the flow of trainings to more effectively cultivate an environment of safety and trust between participants, which allows learners to be more vulnerable in the learning experience.”
“I have adopted the learning-centered methodology for every new training that I have developed over the last 6 months.”
“This reinvigorated my energy and passion for training on gender-based violence.”
“Training for Impact really shifted how I approach designing trainings. One of the biggest takeaways for me was learning how to identify what content needs to be included versus what can be left out. Now, I feel much more confident in narrowing in on what’s essential and relevant for each specific audience.”
“This has been the best training I’ve ever attended, and words cannot express how thankful I am.”
“This training has inspired so much [at my coalition]! Not only have I implemented the design and facilitation skills to my personal trainings, but we have included content from TFI in our Training Manual and Training Planning Forms and have hosted several training courses for our staff trainers to disseminate the information and resources from TFI to better equip them to provide quality training!”
intended Long-term impact
How Training for Impact creates change
Through the Training for Impact program, we aim to equip professionals in our field with the skills and support they need to design and lead trainings that truly engage and inspire.
Our long-term goal is for participants to feel more confident in their ability to create meaningful learning experiences that strengthen their communities’ capacity to prevent and respond to violence.
Early survey results show that we’re well on our way—participants reported high satisfaction with the program and confidence that the skills they’ve gained will continue to shape their future work.
