NEW HOUSING PROTECTIONS NOW IN EFFECT AS OF JULY 1, 2019

The legislature recently passed critical housing protections for victims of domestic violence, sexual violence and stalking. These protections include:

• Adding victims to fair housing law the ensure that survivors are not discriminated against in housing considerations on the basis of their victims status
• Allowing victims to terminate leases early without penalty
• Creating pathways to request locks changes or other security measure
